SWTCH and Peak Power Partner to Optimize EV Charging and Energy Costs at Buildings Across North America

12/14/2023

SWTCH and Peak Power have integrated their industry-leading software solutions for optimizing EV charging usage and are collaborating to expand on their successful deployments at multi-tenant buildings

TORONTO, ON, December 14, 2023 — SWTCH Energy, a company pioneering electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions for multi-tenant buildings across North America, and Peak Power, a Canadian cleantech company that provides energy optimization software and services for commercial real estate and industrial customers and energy storage project developers, are excited to announce they’ve signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) to deepen their software integration and collaboration. Together they aim to transform the future of energy management by helping buildings to get greater returns from their EV charging infrastructure investments and achieve net zero goals.

This partnership enables participating EV chargers on the SWTCH network to seamlessly interact with and respond to Peak Power’s advanced energy management system, Peak Synergy, managing usage during periods of high energy demand and unlocking substantial cost efficiencies during fluctuations in energy prices. This technology integration is made possible through SWTCH Connect™, which focuses on enabling chargers in SWTCH’s network to be integrated into smart building, tenant, and utility/grid applications through SWTCH’s open API library.

“Our mission at SWTCH has always been to make EV charging accessible and efficient for the built environment,” said Carter Li, CEO of SWTCH. “Partnering with Peak Power aligns perfectly, as it allows us to offer an unmatched solution for property owners looking to optimize the energy usage of their EV charging infrastructure and manage costs as they future-proof their buildings. It expands on our SWTCH Control offering, which allocates charging to periods of lower demand in real time.”

“At Peak Power, we are committed to delivering intelligent and adaptable energy solutions for our commercial real estate customers,” said Peak Power CEO and Co-Founder Derek Lim Soo. “Our goal is to enable customers to integrate clean energy solutions in a cost effective manner. By integrating our energy management platform with SWTCH chargers through their open API, we are at the forefront of enabling property owners to  take control of their energy costs through energy management.”

This partnership has already seen early success with two live sites in the Financial District in Toronto where SWTCH chargers are integrated into Peak Power’s platform, providing accessible downtown charging for EV drivers, as well as a flexible resource for building operators to help manage energy costs. The partnership will explore further software integrations and collaborations that benefit both building owners and EV drivers.
