Walking the Walk: Our Path to Net-Zero by 2050

At SWTCH, we work every day to put EV charging in reach for more people in the places they live, work, and play. And as part of this sustainability-focused mission, we also wanted to look inward and see what we could do to make our business as sustainable as it can be.

That is why we are pleased to announce a new commitment in our sustainability mission: SWTCH is committing to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across our Scope 1 and Scope 2 operations by 2050.

Our Targets

This is an important, long-term decision, and to ensure we stay on track, we have set an interim milestone of a 20% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2035 before hitting net-zero in 2050.

Scope 1 and 2 emissions cover:

  • Scope 1: Direct emissions from sources we own or control (like company vehicles or on-site fuel usage)
  • Scope 2: Indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy (like the electricity powering our offices and operations)

A Bit More About Us

For those new to SWTCH, we’ve dedicated ourselves to solving a particularly hard puzzle in the clean mobility transition: accessibility for all.

While single-family homeowners often have an easy path to EV ownership, millions of drivers living in apartments, condos, and mixed-use buildings are at risk of being left behind.

The infrastructure hurdles in these multi-tenant settings are complex. Aging electrical systems, competing energy demands, and high installation costs often stand in the way of installing the chargers that everyday people need to make EV ownership convenient and affordable.

That is where we come in. We use thoughtful design, open communication standards (OCPP), and intelligent energy management to make charging a natural fit for buildings that otherwise would struggle to support it. Whenever possible, we help property owners use their existing infrastructure rather than push expensive upgrades. This helps us make EV charging more equitable, more scalable, and more affordable for all.

Why Our Net-Zero Commitment Matters

If we want to be leaders in decarbonizing North America’s transportation system, “walking the walk” is non-negotiable.

Reducing our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions serves two purposes:

  1. Resilience: It insulates our operations from future energy volatility and regulatory shifts.
  2. Integrity: It aligns our culture with the external product we deliver to our customers every day.

We know that net-zero requires continuous measurement, reporting, and a willingness to adapt our strategies as technology evolves. We’re committed to seeing it through.

Through transparency, innovation, and continuous improvement, we’ll strengthen the sustainability of our operations and continue to support the decarbonization of North America’s transportation system—one building, one charger, and even one charging session at a time.
