SWTCH Energy to Power 600 it’s electric EV Chargers in New York City’s Largest Permanent Curbside Buildout
A longtime technology partner to it’s electric, SWTCH will support New York City’s shift from pilot program to permanent, city-wide infrastructure.
BOSTON, MA — September 15, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. ET — SWTCH Energy, a North American EV charging leader advancing scalable charging infrastructure, today is celebrating the news that long-term partner, it’s electric, the U.S. leader for Curbside EV Charging, has been officially selected by the City of New York, together with Maverick Corporation, to build the city’s permanent curbside EV charging network across all five boroughs. SWTCH will power the backend network behind the largest municipal curbside EV charging buildout in the country. it’s electric will replace the city’s current pilot infrastructure and install an additional 600 new curbside chargers over the next three years, all running on SWTCH’s platform.

The NYC buildout underscores the growing importance of broad, accessible charging networks for drivers who don’t have access to a home garage or driveway, a barrier that has long kept EV adoption out of reach in dense urban neighborhoods. It’s also expected to play a central role in helping the city meet its Green Rides initiative, which requires all rideshare and TLC vehicles to be electric by 2030.
