The financial incentives are impressive:

  • Level 2 Charging: Up to $3,000 per station.

  • DC Fast Charging: Up to $5,000 per station (must be open to the public).

  • Level 1 Charging: Up to $700 per station.

Note: The rebate can cover up to 50% of the total equipment and installation costs, with a cap of six stations per address, per year.

Who is Eligible?

Key Requirements to Keep in Mind:

  • Permitting: All construction must be completed and pass a City of Austin permit inspection before you apply.

  • Signage & Safety: Each port must have “EV Charging Only” signage and protection like bollards or wheel stops.

How to Get Started: The Path to Your Rebate

Austin Energy processes rebates on a post-installation basis. This means you must complete the project first and then submit your application for reimbursement.

  2. Finalize Inspections: Ensure your City of Austin permit is finalized.

  3. Submit within 180 Days: You must submit your online application and documentation of costs within 180 days of the station being activated.
