NY Charge Ready 2.0: Get $4,000 Per EV Charging Port Plus Additional Site Bonuses

04/23/2025

New York State has updated its Charge Ready program to offer significantly more funding to successful applicants.

Administered by NYSERDA, this comprehensive rebate initiative now offers up to $4,000 per charging port for workplaces, multi-unit dwellings, and hotels installing Level 2 EV charging stations, with additional bonus incentives up to $10,000 available for qualifying sites.

Want to know how you can access this funding? Read on to learn how the program works and how to secure its funding for your New York property.

What is Charge Ready NY 2.0, and What Funding Does it Offer?

Charge Ready NY 2.0 is designed to accelerate the installation of Level 2 EV charging stations at workplaces, multi-unit dwellings, and hotels throughout New York State. It offers significant financial support through a streamlined application process and provides chargers that deliver approximately 25 miles of electric range per hour of charging.

Rebate amounts vary based on your property type and location:

  • Standard Rebate: $3,000 per charging port for workplaces, multi-unit dwellings, and hotels
  • Disadvantaged Community (DAC) Bonus: Additional $1,000 per charging port for properties in designated disadvantaged communities
  • Assigned/Fleet Spaces: $1,000 per port for parking spaces assigned to individual drivers or reserved for fleet vehicles

Beyond the per-port rebates, property owners can qualify for substantial bonus incentives:

  • Small Installations: $4,000 additional bonus
  • Large Installations: $10,000 additional bonus

To qualify for these bonuses, you must distribute NYSERDA educational materials quarterly and complete at least two of the following actions:

  1. Host EV events: Coordinate ride-and-drive events or dealer presentations with minimum attendance requirements:
    • Small installations: 5 employee/tenant attendees
    • Large installations: 10 employee/tenant attendees
  2. Purchase or lease electric vehicles: Add EVs to your property or workplace fleet:
    • Small installations: Minimum 1 vehicle
    • Large installations: Minimum 2 vehicles
    • Note: These vehicles may qualify for additional state rebates up to $2,000 and federal tax credits up to $7,500
  3. Offer free charging: Provide complimentary charging to employees or tenants for at least one year

How to Apply & Deadlines

Charge Ready NY 2.0 offers two application paths: pre-installation or post-installation.

The application process follows these steps:

Pre-Installation Application

In this phase, you submit your initial application and required documentation to NYSERDA, including:

  • Completed online application form
  • Building permit or note from authority having jurisdiction
  • Signed agreements (Site Host, Equipment Owner, and Installer)
  • Itemized installation quotes
  • Site map showing planned installation locations

Upon approval, NYSERDA reserves funds for your project, and you have 180 days to complete the installation.

Installation and Final Documentation

Once your charging stations are installed, you must submit:

  • Serial numbers, network IDs, and GPS coordinates
  • Photos of installed equipment, serial numbers, and customer support information
  • Proof of payment for equipment and installation
  • Department of Agriculture and Markets notification

For post-installation applications, you must apply within 90 days of installation and submit all documentation at once.

Review and Payment

NYSERDA will review all submitted documentation and, upon approval, issue your rebate payment.

Your project may be selected for quality assurance field inspection at any time during the 5-year operational commitment.

Important Timeline Considerations

Time-sensitive elements of this program include:

  • Pre-installation funding reservation: Valid for 180 days from approval
  • Post-installation application window: Must apply within 90 days of installation
  • Bonus incentive qualification: 18 months from rebate approval to complete requirements
