Multifamily Properties Across Quebec Can Receive Up To 75% Off EV Charging Projects

02/22/2024
Quebec

With the rising demand for cleaner transportation solutions, Quebec takes a giant leap forward by offering stackable financial assistance for EV charging projects. Through Quebec’s financial assistance program, property owners and operators can receive funding for up to 50% of the costs for EV charging projects, with the possibility of an additional 25% rebate thanks to the federal Zero Emissions Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP) that is expected to reopen later this year. Quebec’s EV charging program not only benefits tenants and building portfolios, but it also aligns with the province’s commitment to electrify 350,000 existing parking spots in multi-family dwellings by 2030.

If you are contemplating installing EV chargers and keen to learn how much you could be eligible for, do not waste any time and contact us, as these programs usually fill up quickly.

Quebec’s Financial Assistance Program – What Is Included?

Whether you buy or lease your EV chargers, the maximum funding per EV charging port is $5,000. The financial assistance paid to purchase and install multiple dwelling building charging stations is equivalent to the lesser of the following amounts:

  • 50% of the eligible expenses;
  • or a maximum of $5,000 per connector or wireless charging station.

Are there funding limits?

The Québec government’s fiscal year begins on April 1 and ends on March 31 of the following year. The date of receipt of the reimbursement application determines the fiscal year related to it. The maximum amount of financial assistance granted per fiscal year is set at:

  • $20,000 for a building with 3 to 9 dwelling units;
  • $40,000 for a building with 10 to 19 dwelling units;
  • $49,000 for a building with 20 or more dwelling units.

Who can apply?

  • The cost of installing electrical supply and distribution infrastructure for the charging stations that will be installed subsequently to meet future charging needs (oversizing).

New Eligible Expenses (Updated April 18, 2023):

  • Professional honoraria to design charging solutions and prepare the plans and specifications;
  • The cost of acquiring a device or software to manage the energy consumed to charge electric vehicles;
  • The cost of the permits required to carry out the installation work.

The eligible expenses must have been paid when the financial assistance application is submitted, except for the remaining charging station leasing costs.
