The shift to electric vehicles (EVs) in Oregon is accelerating, and with it, the critical demand for reliable, accessible Level 2 smart charging infrastructure especially within multi-family and commercial properties. The good news is that the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is stepping up to power this transition, not just with policy, but with significant capital. If you’re planning to deploy new EV charging stations, the ODOT Community Charging Rebates (CCR) Program offers one of the state’s most generous incentives. Partnering with SWTCH Energy ensures you capture these savings while deploying future-proof, networked Level 2 solutions that are fully compliant and ready to meet Oregon’s growing EV needs.

Powering Your Project with Up to $8,000

The ODOT CCR Program is designed to eliminate financial barriers to expanding Level 2 charging infrastructure. This isn’t just small-scale funding; it’s a powerful financial mechanism to spur statewide EV readiness.

The core financial benefit is substantial:

  • Up to $8,000 per Level 2 charging port.

  • Covers up to 80% of eligible project costs.

ODOT requires applicants to combine these rebates with local agency or utility incentives, ensuring that the total cost of purchasing and installing the equipment is dramatically offset. This is a crucial opportunity for businesses and organizations seeking a high return on their infrastructure investment.

Who Can Access These Funds?

The CCR program targets gaps in charging accessibility across various community settings. If your project falls into one of the following categories, you are eligible to apply:

Eligible Applicants Include:

  • Businesses

  • Nonprofits

  • Public Entities (including cities, counties, and special districts)

  • Tribes

  • EV Service Providers

  • Owners of Multi-Family Housing (MFH) complexes

Eligible Project Locations:

  • Multi-Family Housing (MFH): Providing charging where people live.

  • Workplaces: Supporting employee and fleet EV adoption.

  • Public Parking Areas: Expanding community-wide access.

Priority Funding: Focusing on Community Equity

In a commitment to ensuring all Oregonians benefit from the clean energy transition, the ODOT CCR program prioritizes equitable access to charging infrastructure.

A massive 70% of the program’s funding is reserved for projects located in “Priority Communities,” specifically defined as rural and predominantly low-income areas. If your project site is located within a designated Priority Community, your application has a distinct advantage in accessing the reserved funding pool.

How to Get Started: Two Paths to Your Rebate

The program operates on a first-come, first-served basis during open funding rounds (such as Round 4, which launched in late 2025), so acting quickly once a round opens is essential. ODOT offers flexibility with two primary application options:

  1. Option 1: Pre-Installation (Reserve Funding)

    • Apply before you install the EV chargers to reserve funding.

    • Once funding is reserved, you have a 300-day window to complete the installation.

  2. Option 2: Post-Installation (Reimbursement)

    • Apply after you have completed the installation of the EV charging station.

    • You must submit your application for the rebate within 90 days of finishing the installation.

The opportunity to significantly offset the cost of your EV infrastructure is here. Don’t wait—tap into ODOT’s Community Charging Rebates Program today and build the electric future in Oregon!
